1. What they like about blogging.

I think I like blogging for it gives me the opportunity to share experience with others as well as to read others’ reflection of what they do..
2. What they do not like about blogging.

If I was given choices..i would rather choose writing a diary than blogging..because I don t like looking at the screen to type words..but I can write diary anytime when I feel like doing so..i don’t have to wait for the internet connection..it is much easier..

3. What have they gained from blogging eg. Language skills, improved fluency, critical thinking, improved thought processes, technology skills etc.

I think that blogging is more to technology than anything else..it helps people to share their own experiences using the sophisticated medium..this is the easiest way to connect with local people but, over the world..the most important thing is, it helps in education, whereby, it can facilitate the pupils to share their works with friends and lecturers.

4. How?

Teachers can save the URL of the pupils to check on what they have done throughout the year..so that we can reduce the use of papers and teacher can also give comments on the pupils’ works.

5. what they like about the course

The thing that I like about the course is learning how to edit audios, photos and videos..i really can use this in my daily life and school..it is worthwhile to learn these all..it is not mere knowledge but it helps me to enjoy using the existing technology to do what I like..for instance I can be where I want to be using the photo editing..i can make my photos clear and flawless too..

6. what they do not like about the course

Maybe the internet connection…the rest is just fine =)

7. what they have learnt from the course.

I learnt about the power of the technology to share and to use links to make others look at our experience and give comment, basically…I learn about softwares and how to download and upload thing in the internet..

8. what they do not expect but have learnt from the course?

I do not expect to do editing works that I did not imagine before but now I can master it easily and use my creativity to make desirable things..


9. what they expect but have not learnt from the course?

Maybe the use of traditional resource materials..i am still lacking in producing materials that are non-technology..

10. if they can change anything about the course, state what it is and explain.

I don’t think that I had one but I think madam Fauziah can balance the use of tehnology and non-technology materials.=) that’s all..

week 14

today we have a test and i'm glad that we almost finish the semester=) thank god that i manage to do it well..now i'm buzy compiling the tasks that i have done to be put into the portfolio..

the portfolio is a rather good task that we are able to see our own work throughout the semester..there are so many things that i have learnt, such as photo editing, video editing, e-book, audio editing and so on. i have zero knowledge in most of the fields that i feel that this course is veru beneficial for me. .i really hope that i can use this knowledge leter in my daily life in order to make my lesson interesting to attract the learners..

the portfolio also teaches me to be a systematic person that i have to arrange it nicely and put labels or the compartments for every task..this will help to easly to flip and to it everytime i want to look at it again an again..i will always use this skill to make my work easy to use later..

week 13

thank God that i managed to finish my assignment and hand it today..i experienced some difficulties in completing this assignment especially the internet problems..i hate it so much when there is no internet connection..

today, we are exposed to the children softwares that are intended to make learning more feasible in classrom and at the same time to allow the pupils to gain knowledge in a relaxed way..
this softwares are not only captivating but they engage the pupils in a very wholesome learning that they can participate in problem solving activities and gain new vocabulary in a fascinating activities..

these kind of softwares will not only help the pupils to learn and engage in learning, but it also assists the teacher to control the pupils throughout the lesson..me as a teacher aso feel relished during the class because the input or language is easily consolidated withou stress if the softwares are going to be used in the future classroom.

week 12

today Mdm Foziah feel surprised that most of us did not complete our third assignment yet..yeah, i should admit that we all feel that the eid holiday was so short that we cant manage to focus on the assignment yet..

but today we are given time to complete our task..Mdm Foziah let us to make full use of the computer so that we can find any important materials in order to put in our third assignment..
we also discuss about the research analysis that we shoul do about the use of technology stuff in classroom that may assist learning..

this week is a week before the Eid Mubarak..now i feel so lazy to study and do the tasks.. i only think of 'lemang', 'ketupat' and cookies=)
however, i should focus on the third assignment..lesson plan..
lesson plan is the part and parcel of a teacher life..everyday's teaching should be referred to the lesson plan in order to ensure that the important input is consolidated and the teacher can carry out the lesson in a systematic way..the most prominent thing is the lesson plan assist the teacher to keep pace with the lesson and to ensure that nothing is left out..
my topic is 'Making Friends'..it is year one topic..it is not that easy to do it for i've never done any lesson plan for year one classroom..so that i hope that i can find a textbook to refer to and create an effective lesson plan to be taught to year one pupils. .

Today is the submission of second assignment..i feel quite relieved..but there's another assignment coming in..whoa..so tiring..nevermind though, i will work hard for the third assignment..

today, we are going to make use the microsoft publisher to create our newsletter, brochure, business card and so on..i heve used it before, so that i think it is not that new for me and i can explore it more..as a teacher i need this skill whenever i am given a ceremony to handle with so that i know how to impart information about certain things to be carried out in school..

week 10

Today we have been guided to the whole tasks, including the assignments for this semester. Madam Foziah explained to us some of other things that we should enclose in our portfolio before the end of the course. I realized that this kind of discussion about a list of task are prominent.
the thing that i like about this is we can compile and edit our works and we can have a view and a folder of our own works. i think that this task may assist us to edit our work and to have a better understanding of what we have done throughout the semester.
this week is a quite buzy week for me and husna..we are going to complete our second assignment. the 'Earth Song' and the other video that we are going to use, 'Action Words with James'..we are going to make use of these video in order to teach primary school pupils. i know that it wont be that easy..but husna and me are going to work hard to make it interesting so that we can capture the pupils' attention.

week 9

Today there was no lecture at the computer lab..but we were given a task to be completed..

we have to create an activity based on the 4 skills by using the internet skills that we had been taught, which are photo editing, audio editing and video editing in order to teach the young learners..the task have to be done in group..my group members are kak niza, eliana and asma..

i decided to use photo editing and focused on listening skills in order to teach the young learners..it is not a merely an activity but we have to take into account the proficiency of the pupils, the skill chosen and the rationale of the activity used..it is important to create an activity that suits the level of proficiency so that the activity would no be too easy or to difficult for the pupils..

then we were give a task for presentation pupose that requires us to discuss it in class later..i like this kind of activity since we have been here we rarely talk in front that it may affect our use of english in our daily life..

week 8

Today class was started off with the display of e-Book that is meant to teach young learners. I was impressed with the show for it has colourful and bright drawing pictures that may attract young learners to pay attention during the show. I think it also will enhance the pupils’ understanding of the topic or theme introduced for they are taught in a relaxed condition. The use of variety light and vivid colours will help them to focus on the subject matter of the presentation. Other than that, the simple and repeated sentence structures suit the early language learners for the structures will be easily consolidated.
I like the presentation in a sense that it guides me towards my next task which is the e-Book creation, for instance the type of font that is suitable for he young learners. This is significant for me to note that the usage of comic sans font will assist pupils to integrate in the learning process because it is similar to their writing.

Week 7

here now..we are on holiday..however, we are set with another task which is video editing..in this task, my partner, Husna and me did a video on nature..that everything in this world has its own partner is undeniable..even though it was a holiday, but we still discussed the task via yahoo messenger..it makes things easier too..we should thank for it because it really helps us out..we found pictures before we went back and discuss the arrangement of the video during the holidays..however, i admit that sometimes our messages is not getting across..it is one of the drawback that i figured out..maybe it would be much easier if we sit together and discuss so that we can fix things together..i really thanked to husna for putting a verse from the Holy Quran to emphasize the meaning of the video that will make others understand better of the video..

week 6

this week we have to complete or video editing task whereby, we are going to work in a group of 5 in order to download the respective episode of ' So You Think You Can Dance' season 2 in order to ectract the dancing part to make it more enjoyable to watch it by scraping the voices of the comperes.

my group members are kamarul, rimala, ayuni and zhafarina. it is quite difficult to discuss and upload the task since this is our last week before we have our semester break..most of us are going back early..so we decided to assign each of us task to do and compile it together via yahoo messenger..

rimaa and me did the video downloading process..This is my first time to note that i have to have a real player 11 software in order to download video from the 8tv chanel..kamarul did the cutting processes..meanwhile ayuni ad zhafharina did the uploading process and tutorial. i am glad that yahoo messenger made our discussion more easy that we can ask each other views about our ideas..even though we are at our hometown, we still have the chance to complete the task..

week 5

Sometimes, when we are listening to our favourite songs we tend to leap from one part to another in order to listen only to the part that we like. The use of Audacity software assists me myself to edit the audio sounds in other to change it desirably. It works well since it displays the pitch of the parts of the song through its sound wave that make it easier for me to select the part that I want to cut.
The soft ware teaches me to put some effects in my favourite song, for instance, I choose the song, “Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely” by “Backstreet Boys”. During the process of editing, I cut certain parts and put echo effect in the song so that it produces the sound according to my interest. I don’t have to use the cursor to rewind or forward the song anymore!!

week 4

The photo editing is rather challenging for me..to be honest i'm not a kind of person who really like pushing myself to do my own task..

i only completed my task in 1 hour since i did not know that we have to upload it saturday before the midnight..luckily i had just come back from visiting my father from IJN that my housemates asked me whether i ve done my photo editing work..then i rushed to finish it right away..

in one and a half hour i learnt how to crop, free transform, jump to image ready, save it and so on..i have to learn a lot since i do not really know how to use adobe photoshop..it seems complicated but thankfully i managed to settle it down eventually..i decided to use michael schumacher wallpaper with his f1 car and put my picture on the car's tyre..i am a big fan of him that learning to do this kind of thing makes me feel so elated and i want to learn more on editing photos so that i can edit my favourite photos..

22th July 2008

Today we learnt about photo editing and plus, we were assigned with the third assignment, which is the e-Book. We are going to explore and create our own online reading material and display it to other people so that we would be able to produce a creative, colorful and tempting online reading material. Even though it’s a new thing for me, I figured out it is intriguing since it is related to what is current for the learners in order to learn language in an exciting way. So that the use of e-Book will attract the young learners to keep reading for they will be fascinated with the variety colourful illustrations. Furthermore, the use of colourful illustrations will enhance their understanding of the story line.
We discover that there are a lot of website that supply us with beautiful pictures to put in our e-Book, for instance, Flickr, Photo Bucket and Webshots. We also have to find out the software that will assist us to do photo editing, such as how to do red-eye-remover, how to make it smoother and so on. The functions of photo editing give us chances to the ranges of ways to come up with the most beguiling photos to capture pupils’ attention.
Other than that, we have to sit in a group thirteen in order to discuss the children’s capacity for indirect learning. Our group’s focus was the task versus language gain of the students, whereby, it is concerned with the subconscious and conscious learning. After that we have to present our input to our fellow friends of what are included in the particular topic. We are glad that we get positive feedback from Pn Foziah. I like this kind of activity for it helps us to brainstorm and cooperate with each other as well as share the information that we obtained throughout the discussion process.

15th July 2008

The second class of Resources gave me more ideas about the course. We are given our first assignment, which is the blog and the second assignment which is to come up with a material using the prevailing technology sources in order to teach the young learners. We are also provided with lots of downloader software, such as keepvid.com, save2pc, video downloader, real player II, limewire and so on and how to encode those materials using Riva encoder, FLV converter and transcoding tool. Thus, it would be easier for me to find out videos, songs or pictures to be utilized in my assignments and I can enhance my understanding on downloading and encoding material and to consume them in my daily life. Besides, I’m glad to hear that we will be given the opportunity to do a portfolio which is our compilation of edited version of the tasks. This will assist us to revise and improve the tasks done in order to make it more creative and captivating to the learners.
We are also informed about the salient use of curriculum specific and the syllabus to guide us throughout creating and editing the materials. The materials should be aligned with the syllabus and the CS so that we are use of the main skill and the integrated skills to be taught.
The second assignment requires me to work in a group of 6. I’m going to cooperate with Safrina, Kasthuri,Huda, Kamarul and Fazli. I think we are quite lucky for Kamarul have got the ideas on downloading videos and he knows the current use of technology. We have setourselves with particular tasks. Kamarul is the leader, Fazli and me are going to explore the downloading and ecoding process, Safrina, Huda and Kasthuri are going to handle the tutorial process in order to prepare the write up for the process. I really hope that we could do our job together even though this is our first time working together.
Today also Joshua introduces a forum website that includes all the cohort 3 members. It is definitely tempting for we all will be able to share ideas and information as well as comment on things that we are not satisfied with.

first day of resources class=)

Today is the first day of PBEY 3102, Using and Developing Resources for the ESL classroom class. At first, I wondered what kind of resources that we are expected to use in order to teach the young learners. Use the technology?? Yeah!! I’m a techno-dummy. I don’t really know how it works even though I know that it facilitates human’s life. It is a grossly complex thingy to be explored ever. I wish that I know it earlier so that I would not be too worried like this. But, it does not a matter at least I’ve got something to remember of when I finished my study. I was blurred that I had been bombarded with so many software that are new for me and I was impressed at Puan Foziah for her broad knowledge at the wide range of software that we can use in order to find out the resources that are going to be used. It sounds tantalizing that I am ready to embark a journey to go into the technology world. To all my cohort mates, please do help and lets us work together!!
